By planting seeds in the right places, they’re able to create small overgrown dioramas of brutalism and beauty, salvaging and repurposing hundreds of discarded objects to create unique structures for nature to reclaim.

Players can dive into a relaxing sandbox mode with no goals, where they are simply left to delight in their own creativity and create beautiful scenes, or take on a “campaign” of six chapters, where the task is to strike a balance between nature and the manufactured by covering each scene with salvaged objects and lush vegetation.

This is a chill game where the player is allowed to delight in their own creativity. The player's task is to completely cover the scene in plants. As you overgrow the objects, a meter fills to show your progress. You are given objects to expand the scene. These objects contribute energy to the growing of plants, but you will also have to cover them in foliage to complete the stage, striking a balance between nature and the manufactured.

With generative soundscapes by Amos Roddy, composer of the Kingdom Series.","111142/cloud-gardens-cover.jpg","111142/cloud-gardens-header.jpg","https://youtu.be/kWe-U0L9lRo","2021-09-01",null,136407,"cloud-gardens",1372320,[19
"Noio",true,[24,25,26,27],"Puzzle","Simulator","Strategy","Indie",[29,30,31,32],"PC (Microsoft Windows)","Xbox One","Nintendo Switch","Xbox Series X|S",[34,50,65,79,94,108
446
40,"Catherine Dellosa
1,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/TechRaptor%20Logo.png","TechRaptor","https://techraptor.net","10","Cloud Gardens is a dystopian sandbox puzzle-slash-sim from Noio where you make the most of the apocalypse by making plants grow. Each collection of levels is named simply, like Junkyard and Factory, and delivers on its concept. Delightful to the discerning lore-lovers and place-imaginers among us is seeing how the straight line of the Railroad levels passes through the enclosed worlds’ sections on the overmap. It is the world we always return to, with a level representing another train station cropping up every so often. The exquisite delicacy found in all parts of Cloud Gardens can be observed here breathing the gentlest suggestion of a coherent landscape of post-human engineering and manufacture over which we grow our verdant garden of stillness and rest. Cloud Gardens is an artistically satisfying game that allows the non-diorama builder to experience the loveliness of the confidently arranged detail, the thrill of the unexpected aesthetic coherence, and the magic gift of gardening’s simplicity.","https://www.startmenu.co.uk/home/review-cloud-gardens","2021-09-02","Unscored
80661
3930,"Eric Hauter
59,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/Gaming-Nexus-Logo.jpg","Gaming Nexus","https://gamingnexus.com/","While I can't fault Cloud Gardens for its cool visuals or interesting themes, those things are ultimately lost to fiddley controls and a somewhat obtuse gameplay loop.
