Setting the bar as the definitive tower defense game, Defense Grid 2 introduces new worlds and threats to test your tower placement strategies. With a bold new look, a compelling single-player campaign, and the addition of new game modes, online player-versus-player and multiplayer co-op, every play-through brings fun new opportunities and challenges.

DG2 comes with a story campaign featuring 21 stunning maps, dynamic level movement, an expanded story and cast of characters, hundreds of challenge mode experiences, new multiplayer modes, a procedurally driven audio score and the ability for players to build their own levels. DG2 also introduces players to DG Architect, a level creation tool set connected to Steam Workshop where players can create their own unique levels to share and possibly even sell if selected.

DG2 for the PC was funded in part by Dracogen, a private investor after a 2012 Kickstarter campaign funded the original game's DLC, Defense Grid: Containment. DG2 is developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and published by 505 Games.","63368/defense-grid-2-cover.jpg","63368/defense-grid-2-header.jpg","https://youtu.be/uaU6kUKtAec","2014-09-23",null,10184,"defense-grid-2",[18,22
"Hidden Path Entertainment",true
"505 Games",false,[27,28,29,30],"Real Time Strategy (RTS)","Simulator","Strategy","Indie",[32,33,34,35],"PC (Microsoft Windows)","PlayStation 4","Xbox One","Nintendo Switch",[37,52,66,82,97
2120
29,"Andrew Otton
1,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/TechRaptor%20Logo.png","TechRaptor","https://techraptor.net","10","Defense Grid 2 pushes what you can do to a tower defense game as far as possible and still have the game remain a tower defense game.","https://techraptor.net/gaming/review/defense-grid-2-review-definition-genre","9",90
49429
4168,"Alec Meer
64,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/Rock-Paper-Shotgun-Logo.jpg","Rock Paper Shotgun","https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/","unscored","The chattering narrators and a noodling plot about not a whole lot are the major stumbling blocks for me. Defense Grid the first stood out from the TD masses because it successfully combined character and carnage, but this comes across like two different games strapped loosely together. It's not without its decent lines, but there's just so much of it, and so many faceless characters competing for attention. I found it exhausting rather than openly irritating, and do wish it had been more restrained. As a result, it's the sustained snacking aspect of Defense Grid 2's many modes and weapon options, rather than the intended banquet that is its campaign, that'll keep your belly full.","https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/defense-grid-2-review","2014-09-30
32000
3370,"Emanuel Maiberg
35,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/PCGamer-Logo.jpg","PC Gamer","https://www.pcgamer.com/","100","","https://www.pcgamer.com/defense-grid-2-review/","2014-09-24","83",83
73878
5591,"Dan Stapleton
69,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/IGN-logo.jpg","IGN","https://www.ign.com/","Defense Grid 2’s new variations on the original’s excellent tower defense gameplay pulled me right back into the compulsively addictive quest to destroy all aliens with a minimum of expenditure. I don’t recommend the multiplayer and the story doesn’t even compare to the standard set by the original, but its 20 maps absolutely scratch that same itch – and provide lots of tools to keep that momentum going for a long while.","https://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/14/defense-grid-2-review","2014-10-14","8",80
47905
4118,"Edwin Garcia
63,"https://cdn.criticdb.com/storage/v1/object/public/avatars/Outlets/Push-Square-Logo.jpg","Push Square","https://www.pushsquare.com/","Tower defence is a tricky genre to get right: it must strike the perfect balance between simplicity and challenge to avoid any dullness. Add in a home console controller that allows less inputs than a mouse and keyboard combination, and you have yourself a disaster waiting to happen. Defense Grid 2 seems to get the formula just right, bundling in plenty of different challenges and modes to keep you protecting those towers – cores, in this case – way beyond the single player campaign, making it one of the best options to fill your strategic building needs on the PlayStation 4.","https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/defense_grid_2","2014-10-09",5,0,[20,24],[20],[]]
