ruined my first playthrough by insisting on playing on the harder combat difficulty. It was honestly a nightmare. Your attacks are so fucking slow and the damage that enemies did was alot. On subsequent playthroughs its easier as you have more upgrades and omoris to use. I never trusted the red pills your childhood friend gave you and I’m happy they were actually fucking with you in the first ending with them. I do wish your first friend was around longer before they were killed off as it was a bit weird to then do stuff in the shadow world with their psyche even with them being dead. Although I'm unclear on how much was true reality leading up to the first monsters appearing and how much was just a weird protective psychosis from her desire to not be married off. Not that many different enemies types but all of the designs were creepy and mostly dealt with Hinakos desire to not be married off or used by men simply as a breeding wife. Which is 1950’s rural Japan would be a rather extreme opinion for her to have. I got the first ending in which you go on a rampage at your wedding killing a bunch of people most likely your groom and father. The ending in which you accept the marriage but cut out the part of you still resisting in a very creepy way. And the final “true” endings were both sides of Hinako understanding each other and rejecting both endings 2 and 3. I know a UFO ending also exists but after having to run through the entire game 3 times I will just watch that one online. The various bosses were overall good but sometimes hitboxes combined with the meh combat got in the way. The puzzles on the lost in fog difficulty were actually super fun and would recommend that to anyone. No enemy was nearly as scary as the fucking manaquin legs from Silent Hill 2 but was still had a few jumpscares that got me. The final boss changing between the different endings was a good touch. The cutsense in which you cut off various parts of your body, right arm, skin around forehead and eyes, and using a branding iron on your back were graphic and tough to watch and obviously symbolic of changing oneself to become “perfect” for a spouse even if it hurts you. I also liked the stuff in Hinakos home at the last ending in which Hinako actually remembers some conversation with her Mom, Dad, and Sister. While none of them are perfect and may not deserve her forgiveness it does contextualize them all especially the Dad. The notes the class president wrote regarding her obsession with the boy was fucking creepy. She wanted to eat his intestines and share organs. Fun high school times I guess. 80%",[],[],"2025-11-18T22:21:42.879556-05:00",{"username":625,"avatar_url":406},"Raumdemon"]
