It was announced at BlizzCon 2017 on November 3, 2017.\n\nThe idea of the expansion came up after the heroes of Azeroth dealt with so much external threats like the Burning Legion. In their own words, \"so when we talk about what's the biggest threat in this world, is it the titan or is it the dwarf paladin that put a hammer in that titan's head\"? As such, the enemy (at least during the early parts of the scenario) will be the opposite faction, a \"vast army of world-destroying forces\".\n\nOn January 30, 2018 Battle for Azeroth was made available for preorder, coming with the unlocking of the four first allied races. With the announcement of the Collector's Edition and release date for Battle for Azeroth on April 5, 2018,[3][5] Legion was the first expansion to be offered for free with a preorder.[6] Battle for Azeroth is the first expansion to launch in the Americas, Europe, Taiwan, Korea, and Australia\u002FNew Zealand at the same time. Currently, I am trying to increase my item level so I can be ready for the raid in a few weeks. The grind to do that is a long one, requiring a lot of time that not a lot of people have. It is the one crux of this game. When you start World of Warcraft, you have to stay committed. If you’re serious about playing and want to enter the raid on the first day of release, missing just one day is a loss of progress. It’s clear that Battle for Azeroth is an expansion that’s had a relatively short beta period, and many players find themselves unhappy – the messy Warfront launch typified this. The storylines feel more intimate than Legion, and while the spectre of Azeroth itself dying is still looming overhead, on the whole it was nice to simply sit back and help solve the relatively smaller problems plaguing Kul Tiras and Zandalar. But, while it definitely feels as though the Heart of Azeroth and Azerite armor will be important in the patches to come, and Blizzard fixed the grind right now their implementation feels forgettable. Island Expeditions also feel lacking overall, but the new Foothold excursions and new Battlegrounds map make up for the former’s lackluster debut.\n\nUltimately Battle for Azeroth is a worthy if somewhat less ambitious successor to 2016’s Legion.
