Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a tight musou game that combines the intriguing world and mechanics of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with the exciting and addictive combat of the Warriors franchise. The roster is a bit weak, and having to defend territory can mess with the pace a bit, but this is an overall solid Switch 2 hack-and-slash game.

4.5/5

Dispatch is a great adventure game that effectively uses and plays with superhero tropes to craft a memorable narrative, led by excellent performances. A couple of the choice-based outcomes are a bit confusing, but that isn’t enough to derail this strong title from hitting most of its targets.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection does a lot of things well, but its peculiar launch online choices and varying game quality might make it a tougher sell for those who aren’t familiar with earlier Mortal Kombat games. Still, there are a few great titles included in this collection, and an impressive amount of bonus content, so diehard Mortal Kombat fans are in for a treat.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is a masterful couple of remakes that breathe new life into the earliest and simplest games from one of the greatest RPG series. The first game can be a bit tough to get into for newcomers, but it is still the best way to play both titles, and it’s a brilliant package that will surely keep people playing Dragon Quest I and II for years to come.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a great new entry in the iconic monster-collecting franchise, outside of a few issues that seem to stick with the series. The story is enjoyable, the gameplay is stellar, and the new Mega Evolutions are a lot of fun to see – I just wish the game could look as good as it feels to play.

Once Upon a Katamari
4.5/5

Once Upon a Katamari is a wonderfully charming return to form for the ball-rolling series that is unlike anything else. The new gameplay elements don’t distract from the satisfying core loop, the time-travel theme brings lots of pleasant humor, and the characters are as delightfully quirky as ever. This is simply some top-notch Katamari.

LEGO Party is a rather enjoyable party game that takes the best parts of Mario Party and mixes them with some neat new additions. The way that luck can completely flip a game isn’t my favorite thing, but if you don’t mind the silliness that comes with this sort of game, there’s plenty to do in this one.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger takes every concept from the Cyber Sleuth series and improves upon them, crafting an excellent creature-collecting RPG that fans of the series and newcomers alike will have no shortage of fun with. This is what a creature-collecting game should be through and through, and no one should miss it.
