FIFA 20 has Volta at the center of its marketing and successfully introduces a mode that has real potential, but it’s not the experience that reinvents the franchise. Some players will fall in love with it from the minute they first play it, while others will feel the novelty quickly wear off. If the player heads into the mode with the expectation that this is the spiritual successor to FIFA Street, they will feel disappointed after going hands-on with the mode. Irrespective of Volta, FIFA 20 does little to inject the series with gripping features to help improve the stagnating single-player experience. Ultimate Team remains popular and returning fans will be happy with the tweaks that have been made to the mode, but the single-player experience is far from being the complete package. Customization to modes like Volta, career mode and Pro Clubs is a step in the right direction, but FIFA 20 does little to flesh out features like press conferences and make them have more of a real impact. Players will quickly realize how similar the interface is to FIFA 19 in several modes and will be yearning for the franchise to receive a complete overhaul. With Sony...
Life Is Strange 2 took full advantage of the conclusion for Episode 3: Wastelands with a story that fully fleshes out Sean’s character and his relationship with Daniel. Just as the first three episodes showed the sacrifices that Sean made to protect his younger brother, Dontnod pulled no punches in Episode 4: Faith by pushing him to the limits both mentally and physically. Players will be satisfied with a well-balanced episode that deeply explores sexuality and racism in a dignified manner. Sexuality is humanized in its purest form in the fourth episode and will provoke empathy from any player. Gonzalo Martin’s voice-acting performance is a standout and brings Sean’s raw emotions to life as he battles his way back to Daniel. Sean’s entire anguishing adventure, from start to finish, pays off with a superb ending to the episode. While there might be some time to wait before Episode 5’s release in December, Episode 4: Faith delivers a fantastic story-focused episode and sets up the perfect springboard for the Diaz brothers’ next stop of Puerto Lobos. Sean might have been battered, bruised and forever wounded by his scars, but Life Is Strange 2 charges to the finishing line with significant momentum...
Episode 3: Wastelands might be a shorter experience compared to past episodes, but that doesn’t stop Dontnod from pulling off an excellent story at the halfway point of Life Is Strange 2. Just when Cassidy’s charm caught the attention of players in Episode 2: Rules, her story is fleshed out brilliantly in this episode and introduces another memorable character to the series’ ever-growing roster. Sean and Daniel’s relationship continues to hit the rocks and reiterates the devastating impact that Esteban’s death had on the duo. That’s not to mention that Sean is put in a more difficult position now in controlling Daniel and his powers. Life Is Strange 2 continues to retain the franchise’s core strength of superb voice acting, with the actors delivering all-round performances for their respective characters. While the developer still has the overarching plot of the brothers returning to their father’s hometown, there are plenty of storylines that are going on and which fans will be hoping are tied together in the penultimate episode. For all of its criticism with themes, Dontnod exemplifies its fantastic approach to different issues, such as sexuality, in a respectful manner and naturally injects them into the story. If Episode 3:...
