Konami has taken great care with the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, bringing this legendary spy thriller to a new audience with a modernized play style and thoughtful QoL tweaks to suit today’s gamers. If you haven’t played Snake Eater or any of the MGS series before, this is the perfect entry point into Hideo Kojima’s magnum opus.
EA Sports FC 25 continues to hand in the same homework it's done for the past few years now, albeit with a new paragraph on Rush. It's a solid game that will likely enjoy plenty of additions throughout the year, but I'd like to see more ambition in the future.
Tekken 8 improves on its predecessor with a complete graphics overhaul, drastically improved netcode, and a robust base game package featuring 32 characters and 16 stages. With DLC fighters already in the pipeline, there’s more than enough content to keep fighting game fans packing punches for the foreseeable future.
Valve has improved the Counter-Strike formula with the release of CS2, even if there's still a lot of work to be done before it's feature complete. While we're in the dark on specific timelines, the developer's work rate has been promising since launch, and if it continues at this pace, we’re in for an exciting 2024 as Valve ushers in a new era of Counter-Strike.
This is the first Street Fighter game in a long time where it feels like players of all skill levels are welcome. While World Tour mode is disappointing, the sheer scope of SF6 means you don’t need to wait for the inevitable Ultra Edition before jumping in.
The elements are there to create something truly special, but right now Metal: Hellsinger feels more like a Doom Eternal mod than it does a standalone title.
I’ve been playing football games for almost half my life now. In that time I haven’t seen such a drastic update to the series as I have seen from FIFA 18 to FIFA 19. The most publicized addition to the game is the recent acquisition of the Champions League license from UEFA, but the significant changes come in the form of the gameplay tweaks. Considering how FIFA 18 was widely regarded as a decent game, this decision from the developers looked like an awkward one.
Antigraviator is an anti-gravity racing game set in a future where racing has exploded in popularity due to breakthroughs in terraforming and anti-gravity technology. As a result of this global phenomenon, the antigraviator tournament was born. This is where the game’s single player campaign takes place. Spanning seven Grand Prix (GP), each with four tracks, players are able to experience all fifteen tracks Antigraviator has to offer.
UFC as a sport is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a real-life fighting game. In fact, I don't think most fighting games are anywhere near as brutal as UFC is, unless you include Mortal Kombat. Being a huge fan of fighting games, I was really looking forward to experiencing what UFC 3 had to offer. Having only played UFC for a handful of hours mashing buttons against my brothers, learning how to play properly, creating my own fighter and actually winning some matches based on skill rather than luck was an attractive prospect.
When I heard that Frozenbyte, the creators of the Trine series had made a co-op action game with RPG elements, I was looking forward to discovering what unique new spins they would be adding to the genre. Back in 2009 Frozenbyte’s critically acclaimed fantasy action game was praised for its interesting puzzle-solving mechanics, thoughtful level design and solid fusion of multiple genres. Enter Nine Parchments, Frozenbyte’s take on a four-player dungeon-crawler where friendly fire is not only permitted, it is encouraged. If this at all sounds familiar to you, that’s because Nine Parchments bears a striking resemblance to Pieces Interactives’ Magicka series.
