The action is fast-paced, the time-to-kill is still low (especially compared to the big shooters currently prominent in games, such as Apex Legends), and the story, while a welcome return, is still classic Call of Duty campaign fodder. If you didn’t enjoy Call of Duty previously, Modern Warfare’s soft reboot would do nothing to change that.
This year’s FIFA feels a little bit like a transition. The next-gen consoles are coming next year, and the features and effort put into this release make this feel more like a small update on last year. While the tweaks and VOLTA are welcome, it doesn’t feel like a properly new title. That’s not to say FIFA 20 bad at all, it’s still very good, but on the evidence of this game, we’d expect a big overhaul on the engine and modes come next year for next-gen.
And for that reason, Team Sonic Racing is a game that should get fans of arcade racing excited. Its issues keep it from hitting the same levels as Nintendo’s rival racer, but as a package, the game offers plenty of drifting thrills and enough competitive racing, especially with its emphasis on teamwork, to keep players entertained for a good time. It is also a great option when you need a game to play with friends at home on the same couch.
