If there’s one thing I’ve always wanted is a brand-new Dino Crisis game in the same vein as the Resident Evil remakes. A highly polished and terrifying horror experience that will take the cult classic franchise and bring it into the new era. Code Violet, from the same team behind such masterpieces as Quantum Error and Son and Bone, has propped itself up to be the next big thing. Booting up Code Violet for the first time, I was hit with a huge wave of buyer’s remorse. I knew exactly wha...
If there was a game we all thought it would be a massive flop and disappointment this year, that game was Assassin’s Creed Shadows. A clear case of Ubisoft taking too long to deliver what people had been clamoring for more than a literal freaking decade, the long-awaited “Assassin’s Creed in Japan” was announced long after the release of the widely acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima (the game that was also, basically, Assassin’s Creed in Japan), had its release date delayed a couple of tim...
The wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong has been an excruciating one. Since the 2017 Metroidvania masterpiece Hollow Knight, the community had been clamouring for more. And in 2019, Silksong was finally announced, but nobody expected the long wait. Years of teasing with gameplays followed by extended lengths of silence, it felt like it was impossible for the game to come close to living up to those insane expectations. 2025 has not only finally given us Metroid Prime 4, but Silksong as well, mak...
The use of generative AI in the gaming industry has increased dramatically over the past year, with major AAA games like Call of Duty and Fortnite experimenting with it to see how far they can push the boundaries. Unfortunately, they cross the line from human creativity into soulless art in their games. I’m not entirely opposed to the use of AI in games like Arc Raiders, which do a decent job of showing the technology’s potential. It was only a matter of time before Generative AI became t...
Hyper Light Drifter was one of my favourite indie games when it was released back in 2016. A callback to the classic Zelda titles with just a hint of soulslike to keep things spicy, mixed in with a phenomenal pixel art direction. Unfortunately, the 3D Action Roguelike follow-up Hyper Light Breaker didn’t live up to expectations and, despite some great ideas, fell flat in execution. Possessor(s) is the latest game from Heart Machine, but can it bring them back to their former glory?
What happens when you get ex-Telltale games and Ubisoft developers and give them complete freedom to create something entirely new? You get Dispatch, a superhero workplace comedy in the same style as Telltale games. In a year of huge surprises, like Expedition 33 and Arc Raiders, it might actually be one of the biggest surprises. I didn’t expect too much going into Dispatch, but not only does it continue the legacy of Telltale games, but it might also be my favourite entry since Wolf Among Us.

When it was first announced, I was incredibly excited for Arc Raiders; a brand-new third-person cooperative experience set in a retro-futuristic world where groups of players team up to take down giant robots. Think in the same vein as Helldivers 2, before it was even announced. However, after a long absence, it was re-revealed, not as a cooperative game, but as a PvPvE extraction shooter, similar to Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown. It was a devastating blow that felt like it was taking ...
I’ve been hooked on the Battlefield franchise as a whole, playing just about every major release, ever since the release of the then-revolutionary Battlefield 3. It was all thanks to its its excellent squad-based gameplay, which did strike a sweet spot between grounded and arcadey playstyles in huge battles. However, it hasn’t been perfect, and the series has had some rough moves leading up to the mess that is Battlefield 2042, a mostly competent shooter that forgot what franchise it belo...
