This year I made a promise to myself that I would start trying out some games that aren’t normally in my wheelhouse. Trying to broaden my horizons a bid to appreciate more of the gaming world and have a less closed off mentality to styles I wouldn’t usually immediately go for. That being said, I do really enjoy the Monster Hunter series and I do love RPGs. However, I never really wanted to get into the Monster Hunter Stories titles because it was always described to me as a Pokémon type...

*Editors Note: “After review I did a bit more research on the PS4 version of Kena: Bridge of Spirits on PS5 and it does use PS5’s Game Boost, however, that only stabilizes the 30fps framerate. Version Limitation: While it runs better, it remains the PS4 version, meaning it lacks the higher-resolution textures, improved lighting, and increased vegetation density found in the native PS5 version. I did go back and look at the screenshot resolution and it is 1440p which would mean it is runni...

It’s interesting going back and looking at Saber Interactive’s catalog of games and the variety of things they have made. Vehicle based games like the Mudrunner series, first person shooters like Insurgency: Sandstorm, third person shooters like the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine games, co-op focused games like Painkiller, to even a VR Exploding Kittens game. They have really done a lot of styles and genre’s and I commend them for that even if they don’t always hit high. John C...

I’m going to preface this review by saying this is my first ever Suda51 game. I’m setting that bar right away because you’re going to see a lot of flabbers being gasted. There were long periods of this game where my jaw was just hanging there as I wondered what in the hell I was experiencing. Yet, I was enjoying so much of it that the open jaw turned into smiles, as well as mouthing “WTF” more than a few times. Now, it’s not like I haven’t heard of Suda51 and his infamous style....

Team Ninja has really been on a roll lately. With the releases of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, and while not directly developing Ninja Gaiden 4, they still were involved and advisors during development. Team Ninja games have always stood out with their great style, designs, combat and the Nioh series has been a favorite of the team here at Way Too Many Games since the first game. Nioh 2 was a nice step up in gameplay, but I did feel it wasn’t as engaging with its story compared to the first. N...

What a time it is to be a ninja fan, with the fantastic Ninja Gaiden 2 Black earlier this year and the resurrection of 2D Ninja Gaiden with Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. There is also the fantastic looking Ninja Gaiden 4 in a month, but in between that just launched one of the best games this year, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. If you’re feeling like you’re burnt out on the 2D style, don’t worry, Shinobi does enough different than Ragebound to stay fresh. It’s time to step back into the...

I’d like to preface this review by saying I did not play College Football 25. Hell, I’m not even a big college football fan. I enjoy the sport a lot, but I really only follow the NFL and play the Madden games. My first thought with seeing College Football 26 was “so it’s basically Madden with added college flair and fanfare with players I won’t know.” For the most part, I was absolutely correct. However, that doesn’t take away that this is a good entry into the football sim genr...

HB Studios is back again after another two year hiatus with their next iteration, PGA Tour 2K25, and I have to say, I like these year long breaks in-between. It allows the developers more time to implement bigger and better things, and as a player it doesn’t burn me out. Unlike PGA Tour 2K23, there is a positive jump in this one to where it’s finally feeling like a 2K sports games, and not just a strict Sim with some forced in upgrade stuff. Now, there is some good about that, and some u...

Earlier this year my wife and I took our kids to their very first Monster Jam show and they absolutely loved it. I haven’t been to a Monster Jam show since I was a child, so I was just as excited as my kids to be there. As soon as we heard and felt those truck engines blasting in the stadium we all had massive smiles on our faces. Something about that engine sound and the spectacle of these massive trucks rolling, flipping, and crushing things brings out a primal feeling of joy deep in you.

There has been a large resurgence of metroidvania’s lately, and to be honest, I’m here for it. We’ve been getting fantastic games like Blasphemous 2, Metroid Dread, Ender Lilies, and even larger publishers are getting in on it with the recent Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Now EA is stepping up to the plate with Tales of Kenzera: Zau, using its EA Originals publishing arm that supports promising indie games. Tales of Kenzera: Zau caught my eye when it was announced at the 2023 Ga...
