When you think of dungeon crawling RPG’s with clever puzzle elements, you probably imagine powerful knights clad in dark, spiky armor, wielding impossibly large weapons to tear down those who might stand in your way. You probably wouldn’t think of brightly colored and lovable characters in a world inspired entirely by music, but that is exactly what you get with AereA, and it’s an experience you w...

AereA was enjoyable, just not for the reasons you’d imagine a game would be. The story is great, the concept is lovely, but the execution doesn’t hit the right note. It’s colourful, full of bombastic music and character, but lacks depth and fluid gameplay mechanics. Too many little issues snowball into making the experience a bit underwhelming. AereA doesn’t feel like a game that deserves a second...

Fresh on the heels of the Blizzard’s latest Rise of the Necromancer expansion for Diablo III, it would make sense for the PlayStation’s budding isometric RPG stable to get the hell out of the way. AereA takes the original concept of a musically themed RPG but doesn’t do much with it. The combat is too easy, and exploring different regions is unexciting. While there are a few pieces that stand out, none of them make up for an overall dull experience. What could have been a unique game is, unfortunately, a boring one.
