God's Trigger Reviews

Professional reviews from gaming critics

Honestly, there’s not really anything to dislike about God’s Trigger. It’s up there with the likes of Hotline Miami and Mr Shifty when it comes to providing exhilarating top-down action, and it has also got a great soundtrack. Coming straight out of nowhere, it’s undoubtedly one of the best games released this year, and is an absolute must for anyone who loves local co-op. The icing on the cake is that at £11.99, it’s quite cheap too.

Few games come out of nowhere and completely knock my socks off and God's Trigger is a perfect example of this very rare breed.

God's Trigger is a fast-paced top down shooter in the realm of Hotline Miami, which brings with it some brutal deaths. The various abilities and ways to attack are fantastic. The story doesn't delve deep, but it does what's needed to keep you engaged.

Heaven's under new management. It takes a little while to come into its own, but 'God’s Trigger' is a decent weekend’s worth of splatterpunk entertainment.

God’s Trigger under sell’s itself from the very the beginning. The tutorial level that introduces the characters, Harry the Angel and Judy the Demon showcases some of the worst parts of the game. The level doesn’t have much charm with uninspired lasers acting as the only obstacle, enemies that allow you to test your reflexes and dialogue that feels almost comically bad. Luckily, nearly all of these are almost immediately improved upon when the game starts in earnest a few moments later.
