There is a lot of work involved in building the greatest theme park in the world, and filling it with dinosaurs is the best way to do it. I mean, minus the fact that we have to start from scratch, plan for expeditions, extract fossil DNA, build dinosaur enclosures, create dinosaurs, tranquilize them when necessary, perform lots of research, keep up good ratings … yup, best way to do it. But no really, as intimidating as these tasks may sound, Jurassic World Evolution is not asking for the impossible. It provides an excellent balance between strategy and enjoyment that makes this city-builder i...
Jurassic World Evolution looks great on my TV, and while it’s perfectly serviceable in handheld mode, there’s definitely a graphical hit—everything looks much fuzzier. Depending on what scenario you’re playing in, you’ll hear some famous legacy voices, most notably Jeff Goldblum introducing the game and chiming in every now and then to give a warning about whatever the project division heads are suggesting. On the Switch there are some minor concessions to the hardware that are noticeable, but not game-breaking. The dinosaurs themselves look gorgeous (and it was right to focus on them), but the rest of the scenery suffers from some pretty significant pop-in and limited texturing. I also assume that this is an issue across all console versions of the game, but the UI was clearly built with a mouse and pointer in mind, and so navigating around with a controller can involve more steps than it should. The text is also a little small on the Switch screen, though it’s still readable enough.
