Raiden IV x MIKADO Remix is a super fun and challenging game with various modes and the option to play with two players. Add on the amazing soundtrack and beautiful visuals; this is a must-play title.
Raiden IV has been around for well over a decade and it now has a brand new iteration for Nintendo Switch that's chock full of content.
As far as vertical shmups hauled out of the arcades and ported to home consoles are concerned, Raiden IV x MIKADO remix is just about as good as it gets. Nonetheless, this is really one for the die-hard fans of bullet hell.
If you don’t, it’s a very good shmup, if not one of the most complex out there in terms of gameplay mechanics. You’re still ultimately chasing a high score and not much else – and I didn’t appreciate that the default high scores were set pathetically low, because I’d rather have something to chase from the get-go. Still, I am a bit of a Raiden tragic, so in that frame at least, this is definitely a top game – for me.
A few tweaks to a shooter from 2007 aren't going to covert anyone in to a schmup fan, but for those who already are, Raiden IV x Mikado offers a lot.
Raiden is a vertical shoot ‘em up franchise that dates back to 1990. The original version of Raiden IV was released in Japanese arcades in 2007. In North America, it was first released in 2009 on the Xbox 360, and was an exclusive until 2014, when it came out on PS3. Every version has had bug fixes and added content. Raiden IV x MIKADO remix has even more added gameplay features, and, as the title implies, a new soundtrack. The “MIKADO remix” is in reference to a famous Japanese arcade chain called “Mikado Game Center”. What an arcade chain has to do with a new OST is anyone’s guess though. Th...
