Keep your expectations in check, and there’s a decent karting game to be found in Smurfs Kart. It’s rather light on content, but the on-track action is enjoyable, with controls aimed towards younger players. It’s a great game for the whole family to enjoy, then – particularly if there are Smurfs fans in your ranks.

Smurfs Kart is an arcade racer set in the whimsical world of the iconic Smurfs franchise. While visually stunning in its own right, the game is an extremely derivative, but well-made Karting game in a sea of lackluster racing games for Nintendo Switch.

Making a kart game is a different kind of beast in the years since Mario Kart 8 has decided to become the Skyrim of goofy racers. It used to be that each generation had something to try out that might be the big winner or at least be somewhat appealing. Sonic Racing had some great moments, but was still baffling as it was a racing game that had Sonic in a goddamn kart instead of, you know, his feet.
