The Mortuary Assistant's console re-release is the perfect excuse to dive into what's genuinely one of the scariest horror games in recent years.

The Mortuary Assistant may have some technical issues, but the gameplay is solid, scary, and perfect for horror fans.
Horror fans are likely to appreciate the brilliant premise of The Mortuary Assistant, and will enjoy the fact it's genuinely creepy and unpredictable. Preparing bodies is surprisingly engaging, and there are multiple endings to discover which will keep players returning for more, but unfortunately the PS5 version is very rough around the edges.
It takes a special kind of person to work with dead bodies. Not only does it require you to not be squeamish, but it also demands a certain level of bravery. The Mortuary Assistant is great at delivering a creepy atmosphere and jump scares at every opportunity. Item locations and demon possessions change each round to keep you on your toes. Some control quirks and visual glitches interfere with the experience, but it’s a good horror game.
