The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will go down as one of the best launch titles of all time. Yes, technically it’s a Wii U game that was ported over to the Nintendo Switch, but Nintendo made the right decision in holding this game back. It perfectly compliments the Nintendo Switch and highlights why it has the potential to be such a great and versatile console. Many have doubted Nintendo’s ability to bring this series into the modern age of gaming, but they’ve done that and taken it one step further in creating one of the best open-world action-adventure games ever made.
Where it takes mechanics from others in the industry, it improves upon them; where it introduces new ones, you slap your forehead in amazement that it hasn’t been done before. Breath of the Wild is development done right, and damn near the best game you’ll play all year.
Maybe your wooden club will shatter at the wrong moment and a Bokoblin will shank you into an early grave. Perhaps you’ll get stuck in thunderstorm, step into a pond of water and end up electrocuted. Or you could just tumble off an enormous cliff-face after running out of stamina mid-climb.
The latest Zelda game has arrived as a launch title for Nintendo's new console and it's about time. Find within if we think it's divine or a calamity.
It’s been over 5 years since the last console Zelda game released. A lot has changed with Nintendo during that time: Nintendo released the successor to the
Breath of the Wild is a fantastic game, but chances are you already knew that. Nintendo's latest title manages to be a true adventure at the best of times, with only a few faults otherwise holding it back. This is a game that you don't want to miss.
This latest entry in the Zelda series once again shakes up the gameplay that fans are used to. However, does exploring the expansive lands of Hyrule make for a worthwhile journey? Of course it does so let's boot up our Sheikah Slates and start the adventure!
Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is undoubtedly the best way to play one of the greatest games of all time. The visual and performance enhancements remove any issues that you may have had to endure with the original game. It's practically flawless from that perspective. Sadly, the Zelda Notes app really brings the whole thing down. Useful features that should have been implemented in-game have been relegated to your smartphone, and using it completely breaks immersion in this incredible world. I'm only thankful that it's not even remotely mandatory. Leave Zelda Notes to on...
After much waiting with frustrating delays, Nintendo has finally released The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild is an interesting Zelda experience as it never feels like typical Zelda. It could have been an entirely different game that Nintendo executives saw and insisted get reskinned as Zelda. This is not a bad thing – Breath of the Wild is one of the most refreshing and game-changing entries in the Zelda franchise in a long time.
I play a lot of VR games on various platforms. I’m a huge fan and supporter of the technology and in general love the affordability with which Nintendo is approaching it. These VR updates are free, so worst case scenario they’re something you’ll never pay for and never play. That being said, it is clear that the Breath of the Wild VR patch was put together with minimal effort and it shows in every aspect of the experience. While at times you will admittedly encounter a view with a scale that is conveyed by VR to a degree you may never have seen before, it is for the most part and underpe…
Overall, Breath of the Wild is the game to have on your Switch or Wii U. Not only that, but it’s one of the rare phenomenon type of games that come around once in a blue moon. Pokémon was one, Skyrim was one, and — without a shadow of a doubt — Breath of the Wild is one too. Not many games are able to emulate the sense of adventure and wonder that Breath of the Wild has; it’s a game you’ll be playing for a long time and one you’ll definitely keep coming back to. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a game of legends and one you don’t want to skip out on
Breath of the Wild‘s sound is everything you should expect from a Zelda game: a memorable soundtrack with plenty of charming noises and sounds. Even the moments without the stellar music, like when you wander through an empty field, enhance the sense of adventure that Breath of the Wild so easily emits. The major sound addition to the game would be the addition of voice acting, which is, surprisingly decent. There are very few voiced moments however, so it doesn’t feel like too much of a deviation from the standard Zelda sound-design.
