Daedalic Entertainment have outdone themselves and Blackguards is one of the best adaptations of a pen and paper RPG that I have ever seen, transforming the original into an amazing digital version that still retains the heart and soul of a pen and paper, whilst getting rid of the inconveniences such a game implies. The in-depth gameplay and the great dungeon design will give you tens of hours of entertainment and the morale system gives the game a lot of replay value. Blackguards is surely a game that will engulf you and will have you invested in its story for the entirety of the game, and it’s a must play for every RPG fan out there.
Papers, Please is a unique game, and despite its simple premise, it isn't easy. It has a dark and gritty world and succeeds in telling a compelling story without even using any voices. It's simply a game that you must experience.
Reus takes the concept of god games and adds its own twists making for a refreshing change of pace. It’s a really relaxing experience thanks to its beautiful hand-drawn art-style and its smooth music, and I always find myself coming back for more. Despite its casual looks, the game provides plenty of in-depth mechanics that work perfectly together, making for a great mix of strategy and puzzle genres. The game is available right now on Steam for 10$ and for what it has to offer it’s a must own, more so if you like the idea of having your own digital “ant” farm.
Monaco: What's Yours is Mine manages to make a really charming and addicting game and the time attack part of the game adds a lot of replay value to the game since you will always try to complete the heist as fast as possible by improving more and more with each run. Despite its simple looks, it is quite a challenging game and a lot of the times you will have to restart and revise your approach. The attention to detail is really surprising, especially coming from a small developer, the music is memorable, the graphics are nice and clean and for $15 the game is simply a must buy.
