Expanding on a story already told is a tricky task, however, Neowiz took a clever sidestep and used the opportunity to expand the lore even more. The additions are plentiful and whilst shorter, still provides plenty of challenge to returning adventurers
While The Alters tells a decent sci-fi story, its real strength lies in its gameplay. The unique mechanic of creating skill-specific clones adds meaningful variety and challenge. If you enjoy pulpy sci-fi with a clever twist, it’s well worth your time.
If you can put the technical issues aside, this is the definitive way to experience Kratos & Atreus’ ongoing journey. God of War: Ragnarök is a fantastic sequel and shows a studio at the peak of their game making powers.
Star Wars Outlaws is a strong game that’s pulled back by a few issues here and there. It does, however, suck you in and it’s easy to get lost in side-missions and the day-to-day life of its many locations.
Like many yearly franchises, F1 Manager 24 shows signs of a copy and paste method to its development with a few additions to differentiate it from past releases. It suffers for that, yet remains the only title of its kind for avid fans of the sport.
If you’ve played any of the previous games in the series, you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. Equally, if you’ve never played one before, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is as polished as the franchise has ever been.
Football Manager 2024 is a fitting end to this cycle of the series. However, it is showing its age in its current guise. Next year will be telling, but until then, especially if you’ve not played in a while, Football Manager 2024 is a great way to celebrate 20 years.
Company of Heroes 3 can be an enjoyable romp when you’re not dealing with ability overload. Whilst a cookie cutter approach is taken to some missions, the dynamism and the tactical pause system really makes your campaign one of your own making.
Football Manager 2023 - Console Edition has just enough of the full-fat Football Manager experience without making you feel overwhelmed. Being more streamlined than its PC brethren helps you crack through games and seasons giving console gamers the ability to take their teams to untold glory and riches.
Dead Space (2023) is a remake done right. Whilst there’s nothing wrong with giving a classic game a lick of paint, EA Motive went a step further and Dead Space is the richer for it.
Kylotonn should be commended for their work on the series for the last seven years, but post-launch issues combined with a game that doesn’t quite feel right yet brings about a rather disappointing end to what could have been so much more.
F1 Manager 2022 is a commendable entry into the management sim arena. It provides a solid footing from which to build future entries with plenty of scope for future features. Frontier Developments can be proud of what they’ve achieved and will hopefully build on this year's version’s solid start.
