Missile Command Delta is a successful reinvention of the arcade classic, resurrecting the fears of a Cold War turned hot for a new generation. Its turn-based deck building system has the depth strategy enthusiasts will demand, while the exploratory adventure segments, though not overly challenging, tie the scenario together in...
Horses
Life on the farm can be a chore, but Horses is a smart but thematically grotesque horror experience that will unnerve players and leave them with a lingering unease long after the credits have rolled.
Its numerous gameplay systems vary widely in depth, but even at its shallowest, Tides of Tomorrow is a fun, beautiful game with some great ideas and a unique implementation of multiplayer in an otherwise solo experience.
Lara’s last three adventures from Core Design play differently enough from the first trilogy that serious fans will want to check them out. However, with inconsistent visual and mechanical upgrades, and a higher overall difficulty, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered is not a good jumping-in point for newcomers.
Even with a bit of open exploration, Saltsea Chronicles is essentially a visual novel – a character-driven, story you read on screens of charmingly beautiful backgrounds. It’s a stress-free piece of interactive media that invites players to help write the unfolding tale, but those looking for deeper gameplay won’t find...
Gamedec
It’s a shame there isn’t more opportunity to explore the world at large, but Gamedec is a rewarding and immersive role-playing adventure that offers a satisfying amount of player agency in the direction of this cyberpunk detective mystery.
Wavetale
Wavetale’s forgiving platforming and trivial combat arguably make the game a bit too easy, but its thoughtful narrative and gorgeous world will keep you happily glued to the screen throughout the entirety of its brief duration.
Silt
For such an eerie black-and-white world, SILT is a surprisingly paint-by-numbers affair. It’s perfectly playable, but there are few moments of wonder in this undersea adventure, making it a fair bit shallower than it looks.
Eternal Threads is an empowering yet equally unsettling voyeuristic adventure. It can be overwhelming trying to keep track of all the loose threads of time you’re able to weave, but even at its most challenging moments, it’s never less than a deeply immersive, character-driven time travel mystery.
