Monster Hunter: World was a game I would recommend to friends, with some caveats. But Rise’s gameplay variety and mobility — all fueled by that little Wirebug — make it a must-try game for Monster Hunter skeptics and hardcore fans alike.
When I lost, I almost stayed knocked on my ass, pouting that the game is too frustrating — more punishing than the base game ever was. But instead, I took Iceborne’s hand, got back up, and it showed me one of the most rewarding video game experiences I’ve had this year.
Note: The new Warfront mode, Mythic plus dungeons, and the expansion’s first raid, Uldir, have yet to be implemented. All of these features will, presumably, be released on or around Sept. 4. Once they’re released, we’ll update this review after we’ve taken the time to evaluate them.
