I am not a fan of South Park. I don't watch the TV show and was never interested in doing so. This background should tell you all you need to know about how amazing the RPG games around the property were. The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole are excellent games that anyone, not just South Park fans, can enjoy so long as they have a taste for more raunchy humor.
It's time. The Outlast Trials has finally come out of Early Access, and we now have a different beast to address compared to how the game was before. For those who read my first impressions of The Outlast Trials, some of the issues I have with the game extend to the way the Stamina system was implemented, the repetitive nature of the game, the somewhat awful and unoriginal game design, and the way it emphasized the Rigs which exist to amplify your abilities.
Helldivers 2 has been released, and it became an overnight success at just the right time. Players everywhere are meming the game's wacky aspects while thousands of videos of funny moments have appeared left and right. It's one of those games that has a lot of appeal from the premise alone, and it is a decent experience to have.
Granblue Fantasy Relink is one of those games that has caught my eye ever since it was announced many years ago. Unfortunately, this game encountered several hurdles throughout its development. It was originally a collaboration between Cygames and PlatinumGames, but over time, suffered multiple delays and even lost the latter company's support.
At this point, we all know that the Ace Attorney series is one of those series of Visual Novels that everyone has at least heard about. The first trilogy of games is considered to be one of the best, introducing many players to visual novels and having them branch off to series like Zero Escape and Danganronpa. But, of course, the series didn't end with Trials and Tribulations. Three more entries in the Ace Attorney series followed this one.
Granblue Fantasy Versus was one of the titles from Arc System Works that surprised us the most when it came out three years ago. After games like Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball FighterZ, it was a nice topping that included accessible mechanics and a great gathering of stars from the gacha RPG series by Cygames. Now, we have the advent of a new version of GBF in the form of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, an entry that aims to introduce new mechanics and a new coat of paint to an already solid fighting game.
I want to start this review by offering a small disclaimer. At the time of this review's publishing, Payday 3's servers remain inaccessible to everyone. Luckily, most of my review was done before they got nuked, so that won't hamper my opinions on this game. It will, however, impact my final score as the game is inexcusably inaccessible for a title that demands such a high price from consumers.
Most readers should be familiar with what an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game is. It's a genre that's become famous thanks to one particular game (that will be the subject of many comparisons in this review), Dead by Daylight. In the genre, players learn the definition of teamwork (and suffering) while trying to escape the villain's clutches. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one game that fits this genre, for better and worse.
I love FEAR. If it wasn't obvious from my penchant for horror titles, most readers who have read my reviews already know I have a strong affinity toward shooters and horror games. So, a game that combines both to make excellent terror-filled moments and combining them with shooting a bunch of mooks' faces off is a dream that not many developers have engaged on. This is why I was curious when I heard about Trepang2 being the supposed spiritual successor for this series.
I'm pretty sure I will make many enemies from this review alone, but I still can't believe that Honkai Star Rail managed to become this popular with how shallow and empty it is. Much like before with Genshin Impact, I thoroughly played the game up to Trailblazer Rank 25 before I gave up and started this review.
