This world has been a part of my reading influence for over 20 years. And I’m so glad to see a studio like Insomniac Games treat this property with a ton of respect while also putting their own spin on the characters and taking even an avid fan like myself on a wild, twist-driven ride. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a spectacular adventure that will keep you on the edge as its riveting story unfolds.
My time with Assassin’s Creed Mirage was enjoyable, but it’s also difficult not to look at everything else that is completely absent that was introduced in Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Ultimately, Mirage feels like a game that is old with outdated mechanics, but that’s also what Ubisoft aimed for. It’s an interesting way to experience a title, almost like Mirage is a remake of another game that didn’t exist before. Instead, it’s channeling that trilogy of Assassin’s Creed tit...
Although I might seem down on Aliens: Dark Descent, there is a great game here under the inconvenience that is the main systems constantly getting in your way of trying to have fun. Balancing this out so scenarios aren’t piling on top of one another at the same time would definitely alleviate some of the frustrations I had being gated into outlandish fights. With a game where permadeath for characters is such a vital component, having bugs and technical issues that cause you to lose progres...
As someone who’s played every Diablo game at launch and amassed a ridiculous amount of hours endlessly clicking away at monsters on the screen, Diablo IV is absolutely the most refined and complete experience in the series yet. With a sinister and brutally harsh world to explore, the game is jammed packed with content, while also taking everything we loved about the previous Diablo games and making them even better. Diablo IV has set a new benchmark for the series that players are going to ...
In 2008, Turtle Rock Studio’s Left 4 Dead was a massively successful co-op shooter, where players would fight through hordes of zombies while working their way through a series of campaign missions. The 2009 sequel is still one of the most played titles on Steam every day, as well as a handful of other notable success stories in the genre like Warhammer: Vermintide, Payday: The Heist and Deep Rock Galactic. But the genre itself never really took off as many also tried to replicate that succ...
The Resident Evil series took an interesting turn with Resident Evil 7, moving the renowned survival horror franchise into a first-person perspective. For me, this risky move paid off. It provided players with a front seat to the horror show, resulting in a terrific ride… despite going off the rails in its third act.
Despite their flaws, Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2 were games I had a lot of fun playing. The sequel tightened up some of the gameplay mechanics and in doing so the franchise looked to be moving in an encouraging direction. Then last year we got our first look at the next iteration, Watch Dogs Legion: a game with the central premise that you could play as anyone and grow those characters are you liberated London.
