I’ve been on a classics kick for the past couple of months. This is largely in part due to games like Dino Crisis coming back, and Nightdive’s excellent remastering of the flawed, but charming adaptation of John Carpenter’s The Thing. So it feels appropriate that Aspyr are continuing their own trend of excellent remasters with probably one of their most exciting projects, the Tomb Raider Collection: IV to VI Remastered Collection, which includes: The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and the...
When A Quiet Place was released back in 2018, it was actually considered to be a genuine breath of fresh air in the horror movie sphere. For once, it was a genuinely well-written story, with deep characters, and an actually scary threat, which made you tense from the moment the plot started, until its very end. As it’s tradition with anything that’s remotely successful in modern media, sequels were eventually greenlit, as well as games based on the engaging premise. We finally have a horr...
When it was first released way back in the ancient days of 2008, Capcom’s Dead Rising became a legendary survival “horror” franchise, spanning many sequels and even movies. When Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was first announced there was a lot of confusion about what it was, looking a lot closer towards being a full-on remake in the same vein as Capcom’s other entries like the phenomenal Resident Evil 4. However, what we have is exactly what is stated, a high-quality remaster and one ...
There seems to be a never-ending supply of Warhammer games in recent years, with some amazing hits like Rogue Trader and Boltgun. We’ve even had games like Darktide, which, whilst flawed, were actually incredibly fun. Fans of the 40,000 series have been eating well recently, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 might just very well be the best one yet. I guess the emperor really does provide.
2024 has been a shockingly good year for expansions. The Final Shape overcame the odds and ended a 10-year-long storyline for Destiny 2 with much more grace than anyone would have expected. Whilst Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is a shockingly good expansion, with a vast new region to explore, dozens of new bosses, and that sweet, sweet lore to delve into. Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail continues this trend of excellent expansions. Whilst mostly, this one isn’t the home run I was expecting...

Destiny is approaching its tenth year as a franchise. Way back in 2014 the original game launched in a not-so-great state, but became a huge part of my life. I’ve made lifelong friends from the journey, and even though it had it’s problems it was always a good time, thanks to the top-tier combat and build variety that it provided. Even today nothing quite matches the core shooting mechanics. Now Destiny 2: The Final Shape marks the conclusion of a decade-long saga.
I never actually played MudRunner, but I did put a good few hours into its successor, SnowRunner. A game I never would have imagined I would like but an addictive gameplay loop made me a fan. MudRunner VR marks the franchise’s first entry into the VR space and the results are what I was expecting.
For the past few years, it feels like we’ve had a resurgence in survival games that twist the genre. Instead of focusing on tedious amounts of item gathering and meter management, a greater emphasis has been placed on doing something interesting, such as new mechanics. V Rising is the latest to really push the genre.
I have never played the original Outcast, or its remake, in the past, but I do recognize its important influence in gaming as a whole, as it essentially paved the way for the modern approach to the open-world action-adventure genre, something so common and mainstream nowadays. I do find it a bring strange that such an important and fondly remembered franchise doesn’t get the love it seemingly deserves. Is Outcast: A New Beginning a chance for the franchise to start fresh and bring in a whol...
