A Case of Distrust Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Overall, the one bad thing I have to say is the game is awfully short. There are essentially two cases to solve, and that’s it. Worse still, as a mystery game, there isn’t much replay value to be had when you already know the answer. What time I had with it was enjoyable, but I was left wanting more. As far as problems a game can have, that’s a relatively minor one.
All of the parts of A Case of Distrust almost come together for an amazing adventure experience. Unfortunately, the all-important plot is too familiar to be wholly engaging.
A narrative mystery might be an uncommon experience on the Nintendo Switch, but A Case of Distrust pulls it off rather well. 1924 San Francisco, here we come.
A Case of Distrust makes players feel at home in its noir world as they try and solve an intriguing case as private detective Phyllis Malone. The visual style and well-written dialogue easily draw in players, but the point-and-click gameplay – while natural for an investigative adventure title – does not do any favors to the noir vibe the game tries to establish.
