Black & White Bushido

Things are rarely ever black and white, but that’s not the case in Black & White Bushido. Black & White Bushido Reviews

Professional reviews from gaming critics

If you’re looking for a unique multiplayer arena brawler ‘Black & White Bushido’ will deliver. It offers a unique enough take on the genre to set itself apart. With its simple controls and minimalist style, it is easy to pick up and enjoy. My only real concern is the lackluster single player (which to be fair really wasn’t their focus) and lack of content for the console release. With a console release date of May 17th and at a 10.00 price tag, You’ll more than likely get your money...

Black & White Bushido is a very fun game to play with a group of friends, but doesn't deliver any enjoyable content for gamers who would rather play on their own. While some of the spawn points in the game can come off as unfair, most of the time the game delivers as an entertaining and exciting battle arena, that I can definitely see being a hit at parties.

On paper, Black & White Bushido sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening with friends. After all, 2D arena combat games like Towerfall Ascension have proved that a simple concept coupled with fast and fluid action can result in endless fun no matter the occasion. But unlike Towerfall, Black & White Bushido just doesn’t have the staying power. I love the monochrome aesthetic, and the core arena gameplay looks and feels mechanically sound, but it wasn’t long after my initial boot up did I realize it doesn’t have much meat on its bones.

The title says it all, really. Black & White Bushido is a monochromatic multiplayer game where samurai of light or shadow duke it out in two-tone arenas. Developer Good Catch has ported its game over to consoles after an 18-month stint on PC, and with its unique gameplay, it could well slot nicely into gaming nights with a few pals.

Black & White Bushido simply doesn’t have a large base of players playing the game to make it a worthwhile experience, magnifying the flaws of the title further.
