Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Castlevania games have always been beloved action-platforming classics and the recently released Castlevania Requiem for the PS4 includes two well-known entries in the long-running series: Castlevania: Rondo of Blood & Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
So, who should go out and buy this? Well, older fans of the series looking to reacquaint themselves with these two titles should definitely consider picking it up. Also, anyone who missed out the first time around should get it just for Symphony. Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood bundles together two classic Castlevania games that are closely related by characters and plot. The titles focus on the stories of vampire hunter Richter Belmont and Dracula's son, Alucard, respectively.
In an era of excellent re-releases and remakes, Castlevania Requiem feels like a massively missed opportunity to bring two of the franchise’s best games back into the limelight.
If you have fond memories of the original PlayStation version of Symphony of the Night and were expecting Castlevania Requiem to offer the definitive version of the game, however, you might want to think twice. While Rondo of Blood is entertaining enough, the lack of extras and the inferior version of Symphony of the Night being included in this package is sure to disappoint.
