Professional reviews from gaming critics

The best modern rally game to date, packed to the brim with big stages and plenty of cars. With updates like the Central European course coming later, as well as VR support down the line. If you’re a fan of rallying in general, you owe it to yourself to have this one in your library.

Codemasters have created the definitive rally game, for better or for worse. It won't offer much outside of rallying, of course, but if that's your bag you're in for a treat.

A joyous and rugged display of rally racing, with exquisite handling, lightly flecked by technical issues.

EA Sports WRC feels rooted in tradition but also like a big step forward for the franchise. It maintains the best parts of previous titles while still allowing Codemasters to flex its rally racing skills.

EA SPORTS WRC makes a few moves that are different for the franchise that work, but the difficulty that made DiRT Rally 2 so challenging yet rewarding is missing. Yes, this game offers that same sentiment to a degree, but it feels like there was more of a focus on making a complete game with a love letter to the history of the WRC rather than just making a difficult racing game. When EA acquired Codemasters a couple of years ago, the UK-based racing specialist came with a couple of extra perks. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, oh n-(slams into foliage).

A well designed, technical tour de force that lives up to the enticing prospect of an officially licensed Codemasters rally game.

EA Sports WRC is developed by racing game (and Rally game) specialists Codemasters. This marks the first time they have been in control of the official World Rally Championship license in donkey’s years. This one started development as the sequel to the sublime Dirt Rally 2.0 which in my view is probably the best Rally game ever made. It also marks a switch from their custom engine EGO over to Unr...

Going all-in on realism, with the high level of difficulty that entails, Codemasters has outdone itself with EA Sports WRC, delivering a stern rally racing challenge that pulls absolutely no punches. If you've got the minerals, then this is the rally game for you.

EA Sports WRC is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, there’s no denying that this is the best rally game yet when it comes to authenticity and physics. It’s also pretty comprehensive, with a large number of locations complete with seasonal variations and a generous selection of cars. You can even build your own vehicles, which is somewhat rewarding. It’s just a shame that it’s dogged by technic...

If you’re looking for a fully featured and great handling rally game, EA Sports WRC is the undisputed champion this year, though PC players need to be aware that some technical bugs still need to be ironed out.
