Professional reviews from gaming critics
Let’s get this out of the way up front: Ever 17: The Out of Infinity comes highly recommended. Part of the Infinity series of visual novels, this title is where the series picks up its stride. Leaving the awkward Never 7: The End of Infinity behind, the writers on this one created a disaster narrative that could have been a blockbuster movie, injected it with a good dose of anime flavor and then got weird with it. Since this is a remaster of a game from 2002, one can be forgiven for expecting tired tropes that might have seemed fresh at the time, but this is a title that stands out and still w...
Ever 17: The Out of Infinity is the next step in Kotaro Uchikoshi’s attempt to frame the importance of life. Life is unique because of how we each experience it. Ever 17: The Out of Infinity is a great improvement over its predecessor, Never 7, making for a much more memorable experience. It's still nowhere near perfect, but it should still be an enjoyable read for most visual novel fans.
Experience a classic visual novel with a clever sci-fi story in the new remaster of Ever 17: The Out of Infinity.
That all said, I don’t feel this is the best way to experience Ever 17, mostly due to the quality of the translation. I know it seems like a minor thing, but it causes me to question how much care was given to the writing across the board, and for a visual novel that’s more important than ever. If you have a way to try one of the other versions, give it a shot. But if not this is still a perfectly serviceable, and definitely more accessible version.
