Tokyo Xtreme Racer
4.0

At its best, Tokyo Xtreme Racer delivers racing thrills like no other game will. Battling at high speeds while weaving through traffic gets the heart pounding. This new entry doesn't bring too much new to the table, but it never had to anyway. It's a solid modern conversion of old gameplay ideas.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is proof that less is sometimes more. There is very little in the way between the player and the game's content, making for a refreshing pick-up-and-play experience that will satisfy players of all ages and skill levels. CrossWorlds is a kart racer that deeply understands the appeal of the genre and manages to finish in first place because of that.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a shockingly great time. Fans of hardcore action RPGs won't want to miss out on this one. Every aspect of the game has been made with clear passion on display.

Lies of P: Overture largely retains the quality of the base game, if not improving upon it in some aspects. While it isn't particularly experimental, it is more Lies of P, and it proves why that isn't a bad thing in the slightest.

This would be one of the best examples of a remaster done right if it weren't the severe technical issues plaguing this release. Nevertheless, Oblivion still holds up as an amazingly engaging role-playing experience all these years later. I simply can't get enough.

The First Berserker: Khazan is the best Soulslike I've played since Lies of P. The game can sometimes overstay its welcome, but the excellent combat, boss fights, and stellar presentation more than make up for that. If you're hungry for a new hardcore action RPG, Khazan is the game to pick up.

Rise of the Ronin may feature a formulaic open-world structure, but it's still an amazing action RPG despite that. Unfortunately, your mileage with the PC port may vary, so proceed with caution.

Never 7: The End of Infinity still has some charm all these years later, but perhaps it hasn't aged so gracefully. Messy pacing makes what would be a relaxing experience an often tedious one. Fans of classic visual novels and anime who don't mind the older aesthetic and simplistic story could have a great time, however.

Freedom Wars Remastered doesn't bring many surprises to the table, but it's great to see a Vita cult classic find its way to current platforms. While it is beginning to show its age, this still holds up as an enjoyable title to play in 2025.

Sonic X Shadow Generations delivers all the thrills you could hope for with almost none of the drawbacks. This is one of the most easily accessible and enjoyable 3D entries in the series, making it a must-play for anyone who's interested. I hope this is the standard for the series going forward.
