Frostpunk: Console Edition Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
If you have yet to play Frostpunk and enjoy city-builders you should absolutely give the console edition a look. It's a worthy port of a phenomenal game, and I hope to see more games brought over from PC given this sort of love and attention in the future.
In an alternate universe, Planet Earth doesn’t have to debate the validity of climate science. We don’t make it out of the 1800s before a second Ice Age comes to humble us. The new normal becomes the sort of desperate and grueling stuff of sci-fi nightmares. If for some reason you watched Snowpiercer and wondered “what if they actually tried to live outside,” then 11 Bit Studios’ Frostpunk: Console Edition might be the game for you.
Becoming one of the best city builders on consoles is the least of Frostpunk’s achievements in this thought-provoking parable about the true cost of being in charge.
As one of the most depressing city-building games I have ever played, Frostpunk is a story of survival set in a time where an eternal winter takes over. With limited resources and a handful of people, you set out to unknown lands in hopes of finding installed generators where you can establish a new home and thrive as a society once more. As one of 11 bit studio’s biggest hits and not your average PC to console port, Frostpunk is an intense and impressive strategy game that requires making tough decisions as the leader of a dying population.
Brutal and Brilliant.
