It’s also important to keep in mind that Half Past Fate is very much a slice-of-life story. It’s a romantic comedy that has several humorous moments and entertaining dialogue, but it is first and foremost a story about these people’s lives. There’s no huge crisis or major conflict–just six people trying to connect as circumstances and misunderstandings keep them apart.
Half Past Fate is a sweet, complicated tale, perfect for those who want a few hours of heart and soul and not many puzzles.
Half Past Fate's laid-back storyline and cute artwork leave you feeling relaxed and fulfilled. If you’re looking for a challenge though, you aren’t going to find it here. If you're new to the genre, it’s a nice way to get a feel for the style without getting overwhelmed by dozens of buttons, options and paths to follow.
Its budget price at launch ($15.99 on sale at the time of writing) makes some of the shortcomings easier to swallow. If you’re looking for a cheesy yet endearing romcom romp, something to tide you over between heavier narratives, Half Past Fate deserves at least a glance.
Indie games deserve love, too, and Half Past Fate aims to satisfy! Playing through three different scenarios of romantic intent, the player's job is to kindle the passion for six fate-bound individuals. But will it be able to sate one's desire for emotional sublimity?
