I and Me Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
I and Me is a platforming puzzle game with a difference. It’s a soothing journey into a slightly philosophical world, where you control not one but two cats.
If you've ever wanted to play as two kitties simultaneously then here's a game for you. I and Me features simple yet challenging puzzle platforming gameplay so get your wits ready and let's pounce!
Jump into I and Me expecting a fairly relaxing experience that doesn’t demand too much of your time, and I can imagine you’ll have some fun with it. Those expecting an unsuspecting challenge that’ll have you scratching your brain over any of the game’s 90 puzzles however, will be left a little wanting. It depends what type of player you are. There’s no denying that the conceit behind I and Me’s concept has a lot going for it, but even players slightly enticed by the game’s “story” could find its ambiguous presentation frustrating and soulless, rather than thoughtful and cute.
I and Me stands out due to the fact that the Switch library doesn’t have too many puzzlers right now. However, a pointless story, frustrating mechanics, and disappointing length mar a game with lofty ambitious.
After playing through the entire game within a couple hours I tried to determine who the target audience would be. The puzzles required minimal effort to solve, 95 of the 100 levels could be solved within 10 seconds of looking at the layout. For the remaining 5 levels, a hint is given if needed, which is a video of 90% of the level being solved. With it being such a simple game I thought it might be good for kids but my own, both below the age of 7, had lost interest after the 4th level. The best recommendation I can give you is to watch some levels on YouTube before spending any money on this...
