Kingdom Under Fire II embraced the long path of “development hell” and delivered a fun experience that should last for many years to come.
Kingdom Under Fire 2 is a new and exciting MMO which tries to meld the RPG and RTS genres together. Although this melding isn’t without a few issues, overall, the combined package is a fun and entertaining game. Hopefully, it can find a sustainable balance to be around for a while.
Let me tell you a short tale that has absolutely nothing and somehow everything to do with Kingdom Under Fire II. This is a tale about my history with MMO's, the ups and downs and the in-betweens. It's also why this review of Kingdom Under Fire II is going to seem split because this is a game that manages to encapsulate the highs and lows, with an extra high on top of that.
Kingdom Under Fire isn't a bad game, just unremarkable. The poor AI and lack of an in-game save option makes the single player campaigns frustrating and unrewarding, and the role-playing elements don't quite work as well as they perhaps should. The rather primitive graphics engine doesn't do the game justice either, which is a shame because there is a good game somewhere in there trying to break out. If you're a multiplayer strategy fanatic it might be worth a look, and you will almost always find opponents ...
