Our platformer du jour is Lost Epic. It feels rather epic (I did get lost at some points), so the title seems appropriate. Are you ready to fight the gods and save the world?Read More
One of the most fantastic feelings is going into something with zero expectations, then getting blown away by it. This usually manifests for me with seeing an unknown opening band at a concert or picking up a game review I’m not excited for. Lost Epic blew me away. If you love 2D action RPGs such as the aforementioned Odin Sphere or Salt and Sanctuary, Lost Epic may be worth taking a punt on, especially considering its modest price. While Lost Epic sports nice visuals, a great soundtrack and engaging, challenging gameplay, it’s also incredibly tedious to progress with many of its mechanics left unexplained, and a story that is incredibly dull and forgettable.
Lost Epic is a 2D Soulslike action-RPG wherein the player must travel across the land slaying 6 malevolent deities on behalf of a clan of witches. With its flashy combat and gorgeous art direction, there’s quite a lot to like in Lost Epic. However, it lacks the depth of the games that inspired it, and several mechanics which end up padding its content lead to a game that becomes less than engaging as it progresses.
