Murderous Pursuits is a very solid game that offers a fun, competitive gameplay. While it has a few technical flaws, the game itself is very well made and includes some unique mechanics that create some interesting challenges.

Remember back in the day when Assassin’s Creed had a multiplayer mode? It’d be understandable if you don’t, considering the mode was only around for a few entries and Assassin’s Creed has always been known for its single-player focus, but I felt they were onto something special. Cut to 2018 and a new game called Murderous Pursuits has revived the cat-and-mouse stealth action that made the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed mode so compelling and placed it in a silly and fun, albeit sparse, online multiplayer murder party.

Aboard a fancy Victorian ship you socialise, drink, entertain, mingle with the crowd, and secretly murder your target without exposing yourself. It’s Murderous Pursuits, a kill or be killed experience where only 1 player can be the ultimate secret assassin.

There aren’t a lot of online multiplayer options for folks who aren’t interested in shooters, fighters, or real-time strategy clickfests. What if you’re more into the thoughtful side of gaming? Just because you’d rather be unraveling a tricky Zelda dungeon or old-school adventure game than scoring headshots doesn’t mean you’re not competitive!

Murderous Pursuits is a fine continuation of The Ship and the concepts it implemented so well. The core of the game is extremely solid, delivering a fun multiplayer experience throughout every match. The only problem is that there's just not enough here to keep most people coming back on a regular schedule. For the price the amount of content is fine, but the missing potential at launch is tough to get past.
