There’s a good reason why – whether win or DNF – a driver is always quick to thank the people back at the shop; the people who work their tails off all week so the driver can climb behind the wheel and put it all on the line. Finally, NASCAR Heat 3 gives its earnest due to all those who make it happen via a career mode with more organizational options. The franchise has desperately needed this step forward since developer Monster Games brought the series back two years ago, but even with this new evolution the game doesn’t roll off the hauler a total winner.
The improvements to NASCAR Heat 3 are so profound that it’s hard to believe that this is even from the same team. It’s still no Forza, or even Driveclub, but the game is moving in a decent direction that makes it easier and fun to play than previous games.
The latest racing sim from Monster Games, and the third in their recent Nascar series has arrived in Nascar Heat 3 as they hope gain some real traction in the genre. Admittedly it’s been years since I picked up a racing simulator, I’m looking at you Gran Turismo 4, and while I’ve had my fun with a variety of other racing titles like The Crew 2 and Cars 3 in recent years, I was quite interested to see just how Nascar Heat 3 would stack up. Throw me into the world of Nascar and color me curious gosh darn it.
It has been some time since I had last checked out a Nascar Heat title and the core game play in Nascar Heat 3 is enough to even get a casual race fan
Ultimately, if you’re after the most authentic NASCAR racing game available right now, NASCAR Heat 3 will serve you well. But if all you want to do is take some NASCAR vehicles around some tracks now and again, on Xbox One you might as well pick up Forza Motorsport 6 or 7. They won’t let you complete your own NASCAR career or build your own team, but they have better physics and spectacular visuals. The choice is yours, and either way you’ll be suitably entertained.
