Mohawk Games has made a historical 4X that feels like the future.
Old World was everything I hoped it would be and a little more.
But, technology rant aside, Old World looks and plays great. The performance of the title is fluid and fast and the UI has been designed in a way that promotes ease of use for the most part - despite the fact that you have so many options it feels like you're in the cockpit of a fighter jet a lot of the time. Either way, for a game that is competing with Civilization and soon will have to deal with Humankind as well, Old World is a 4X game that offers up plenty of reasons to choose it and to dive into it over the alternatives available. It's hard to say much other than the fact that this game…
Old World adds dimension and complexity to the 4X style, but its slow pace and intricate resource management hinder it from reaching its full potential.
