Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Mega Dimension Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension is a great expansion to the base game that adds some much-needed quality-of-life improvements, interesting new Mega Pokémon, as well as plenty of returning Pokémon. The story is a bit strangely paced, but this is an overall worthwhile addition to an already solid title.
While maybe not as spectacular as the main story, Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimensions adds loads of content and Pokémon to the game.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Mega Dimension is a nice little coda to the base game, both in terms of story and gameplay. It’s content with just being an infinite remix of what’s already there, being both just as fun and as frustrating as Z-A already was.
Given how much I enjoyed Pokémon Legends Z–A — more than most people, if some parts of the internet are to be believed — I was really looking forward to the Mega Dimension DLC. The good news is that the best bits of Z–A are still there, along with a bevy of Pokémon missing from the base game and a slew of brand-new Mega Evolutions to keep things interesting. The problem is that getting between the exciting new bits is a bit of a slog.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A - Mega Dimension is decent enough, but its price point is unacceptable for an expanded Pokédex and some neat ideas.
The mega evolutions and real-time battles continue to impress, but this expensive DLC is far too repetitive to be considered an essential purchase.
Taking place shortly after the events of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Dimension lets you encounter new characters, including Ansha and her Hoopa, which allows you to travel to Hyperspace Lumiose. Ansha really wants to find Rayquaza, which she spotted before arriving on Hotel Z's rooftop, and so Team MZ agrees to help. What follows is a lot of traveling through portals and a kind of gauntlet of gathering Research Points and fighting the new Rogue Mega Evolutions.
