Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Nintendo Switch 2 may not have launched with a massive amount of brand new titles, but it did bring quite a lot of previously released games over to Nintendo’s ecosystem for the first time, such as Cyberpunk, Hitman, and Split Fiction.. Then there’s Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S, which might feel a bit odd in this launch lineup, as is an enhanced version of a game that had already been released for Nintendo’s predecessor console. I’m always up for more Puyo Puyo and Tetris though, so I coul...
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is the perfect way to inject some classic puzzling into your Switch 2 library, especially if you missed the previous version.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S remains a strong puzzler that successfully merges two iconic franchises into one cohesive, content-rich package. Mechanically tight and perfectly suited for portable play, it’s an easy recommendation for newcomers looking to dive into a vibrant and addictive puzzle experience. That said, the additions in this version are relatively minor, offering little incentive for returning players who already own the previous release. For fresh players though, it’s a delightful crossover worth your time.
More than most, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is a tough release to put a score on. However, that has everything to do with the solid skeleton of the original Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 and barely anything to do with the minimal additions made to this Switch 2 re-release. For newcomers to the series or those who missed its original release, there’s plenty of fun to be had here. For fans who already have the original version on Switch, I...
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S is an underwhelming port of a great game. The addition of a single new mode and a handful of hardware features isn’t enough to justify the steep asking price, especially given its online matchmaking limitations. Had Sega offered a cheap upgrade path for existing Puyo Puyo Tetris owners, it would be much easier to recommend.
Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S seems like the game version of redundancy. If you have the first sequel, there is simply no good reason to get this one. This could be the worst thing that's happened between Sega and Nintendo since the "Genesis Does What Nintendon't" commercials.
