Resident Evil 4 Remake is a masterclass in action and survival horror, with superb level design, satisfying combat, and enough extra content to keep you coming back. The Switch 2 port has occasional frame drops and muddy visuals, but handheld play makes those flaws easier to overlook.

There's no question that Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is both an excellent game and well worth your time if you're an RE fan or a first-timer to the series. A thought that continues to linger in my mind is that you may want to play the original first, for the point of reference, but also because it's still a timeless video game that holds up incredibly well in 2026 (not to mention you can buy it on the Switch eShop).
