Slime-san Reviews

Professional reviews from gaming critics

Slime-san is a surprisingly refreshing twitch-based platformer that will put a smile on anyone’s face. Its sharp controls mixed with brutal but balanced difficulty, as well as some well-done pixelated graphics, makes Slime-san a must buy for anyone looking for some platforming goodness.

Slime-san is an interesting and somewhat deceptive little title. It certainly looks different, with its retro-inspired graphics and simple yet odd color palette

I tend to get frustrated with twitch-based platformers where you end up dying an unimaginable amount of times, but with Slime-san, it’s different. The controls feel so good that I know if I die, it’s on me and not a fault of the game. Couple that with fun and interesting level design to make a foundation for a great game. Pile on a massive amount of stages littered with extra content and it’s hard not to recommend this game to fans of the genre looking for a challenging but fair experience.

Sliding around the insides of a giant worm definitely doesn't sound appealing as a game premise. However, Slime-san's odd and often disgusting tale is one that's hard to put down so let's get swallowed whole and check it out!

I have to say that from its outward appearance I didn’t expect a huge amount from Slime-san – and with a pretty paltry 900mb, I imagined there really wouldn’t be a lot to it. Despite its few faults however, Slime-san‘s quirkiness, its fast-paced gameplay, the soundtrack from over 10 acclaimed chiptune composers, and the 5 colour palette of a wonderfully vibrant world all culminate in a delightful game. Whether its a quick ten-minute gaming session in your lunch-break or “just one more level” that culminates into an all-nighter, Slime-san is a pleasant surprise all-round.
