Professional reviews from gaming critics
Spirit of the North 2 is the sequel to the 2019 release, Spirit of the North. Developed by original developers Infuse Studio and published by Silver Lining Interactive, Spirit of the North 2 is a visually stunning open-world adventure. You take on the role of a lone fox alongside a raven companion to learn the secrets of the world, what happened to the human race, and how we can return home.
I played Spirit of the North back when it first released in 2019. I had said at that time that I might go back and replay it to obtain all the shaman staffs to see if it unlocked a different ending, but I never did revisit it. Spirit of the North 2 is a gorgeous game filled with a level of freedom that feels refreshing in today's climate, with smart puzzles and a moving story.
Explore a serene open-world adventure in Spirit of the North 2. Play as a mystical fox, solve puzzles, restore guardians, and uncover ancient lore.

The open world has nothing special to discover and mostly feels like a chore to navigate through, which is a shame considering the game forces the player to search the map for necessary items to progress. Even worse, the game has a ton of bugs that are downright frustrating, such as a boss refusing to attack, audio cutting out, lighting issues in some areas that make it nearly impossible to see, and environments refusing to spawn. Spirit of the North 2 isn't a complete lost cause, but it feels too rough and unpolished to qualify as anything more than wishful meandering.
