Although not playing the original, The Escapists 2 is still an enjoyable game, especially if you don't have a lot of time on your hands as it can be played in spurts with how the game and save mechanics work, each day lasting around fifteen minutes. However, the first prison you play through might take a while to escape if you're not familiar with how the game works. Though the tutorial level do...

There isn’t much in the way of a story for The Escapists 2. For each level, you are brought into a prison, given a quick tour, and then must find a way out. Your escapes are bookended with cute little intro and outro cutscenes, assuming you actually can escape. Make no mistake about it, The Escapists 2 is brutally hard and you’ll need extreme patience and persistence to succeed. In prison, you’ll ...

The Escapists 2 offers a unique sandbox prison escape experience, but it may be a little overwhelming for some players.

There’s a lot of “downtime” where you’re just waiting for things to happen, but that’s prison. You’re learning the routine of the jail, finding openings, and in the meantime, there are plenty of “quests” for other prisoners you can complete to build up your arsenal and keep yourself busy until you find the perfect opening. And as in life, in The Escapists 2 proves that duct tape can fix anything. ...

What The Escapists 2 does do is improve its look, expand your options for escape, and throws in a hilarious multiplayer. What The Escapists 2 does not do is make itself significantly more accessible and forgiving. If that put you off the first time, there’s little to convince you to play the sequel, but for fans, this is a rather pleasant upgrade.

The Escapists 2 is an good prison break game that could use a few more additions to make it a great one. If you don't like RNG, this isn't for you, but fans of the first one or purveyors of co-op modes will be satisfied with the title.

Every new prison is a wonder to behold and a challenge to be conquered, the thrill and anticipation of success escalating as you tackle progressively tougher and more varied penitentiaries. It isn’t perfect, and frustration will rear its ugly head from time to time, but for all its quirks, The Escapists 2’s blend of excitement and tension will keep you hooked. Lock yourself away with The Escapists...

Almost everyone has heard of history's amazing prison escapes, like Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin fleeing from the world-famous Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary in 1962. The men spent six months preparing, and used everything from papier-mâché dummy heads left in beds to raincoats stitched together into a lifeboat. The Escapists 2 gives you the same types of tools to escape a variety...

I am not an escapologist. I know, in no uncertain terms, that I couldn’t gracefully escape from a particularly tucked in bed, let alone a high-security prison. But that is where The Escapists 2 comes in. Now, I need not worry about being trapped in a faulty elevator, when I can skillfully plan my perfect escape.

The Escapists 2 is a game that has added a lot to the formula that gave its predecessor success, while managing to maintain its core identity. If you played the original Escapists then getting the sequel is a no brainer, while if you fancy taking on a generally very challenging game where you have to rely on your own wits then The Escapists 2 may be just what you’re looking for. There will be time...
