I play a lot of games that star people that murdered my ancestors. There are lots of fun games about medieval history, ancient Rome, Eastern Europe, and Russia. And at various times (most times really), those places were a pretty hostile place to be Jewish. In the 20th century, my family was rolling with the socialists and the communists, and that brought heaps of trouble upon them. I’ve been thinking about that family history a lot in the context of our current political climate, and along comes a video game that sees my ancestor’s legacy, and does not flinch away.

The Good Fight

Overall this is a nice title and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun but short game.

Not many games have you play the underdog from beginning to end. It’s tense, and each passing day keeps you on edge. You’ll be emotionally invested in trying to keep your members, friends, family, and even strangers safe as you make choices that will shape your life and their future. Although a second playthrough doesn’t hit the same way emotionally as the first, it’s still a fantastic title to understand the heart-wrenching reality of that period.

Through the Darkest of Times takes people back to 1933 as Hitler starts his rule over Germany. Your underground resistance group is everything you have to fight against him. Once you accept the occasional glitched mission and language mistakes, it is a journey down history that you will never forget.
