Professional reviews from gaming critics
Dive headfirst into the enchanting world of Wandering Sword, an exceptional wuxia or murim-style RPG that takes players on an unforgettable journey through the captivating realm of ancient Chinese martial arts culture and embark on a heroic quest filled with adventure and intrigue.
I loved every second of the 30+ hours I poured into Wandering Sword. In a year filled with so many critically acclaimed RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, Final Fantasy XVI, and Sea of Stars, I could easily see a smaller, PC-only release like Wandering Sword getting lost in the shuffle. That would be an absolute tragedy, as Wandering Sword delivered one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had all year. Yuwen Yi’s journey opened my eyes to the wuxia genre and the wonderful world of Chinese RPGs.
While Wandering Sword may appear to be an imitation at first glance, this entertaining Wuxia-style adventure is one of the most unique RPGs I've ever played, despite stumbles in localization and polish.
Wandering Sword is a gorgeous, addicting RPG with great progression systems. And it runs wonderfully on the Steam Deck.
Wandering Sword promises sweeping wuxia action in a classic JRPG-style tactical RPG. Instead, it delivers a five-fingered death punch of bad localization, obtuse systems, and terrible save management.
