Battle mode is arguably the best thing about First Light, and it really uses the combat system and Fetch’s powers to their full potential. There are only a few difficulties for the modes but you’ll probably be spending some good time beating the high scores of your friends and of course your own. Players with a Second Son save on their system will also be able to play through these arenas as Delsin, including his full set of powers.
Batter vs pitcher duels can make for some incredibly tense situations, especially when there’s a lot at stake. There’s a real sense of rivalry that hits you wether you’re playing against AI or another player online. The only new feature that doesn’t seem to hold up as well (in my personal opinion, of course) is the new directional hitting system, which in concept allows the player to influence the direction of the pitch in question, which is a cool idea by itself, but in practice it falls flat as you never really get the feeling you’re actually accomplishing something by using the feature.

But where the game delves into new territory, it often returns to the classic formula after getting cold feet. The strongest points of Hardline are when the game tries to be something different, but the fallbacks to old ways are where the game keeps itself from being great, rather than just good.
The racing genre has arguably been one of the defining genres of gaming for many generations, wether it’s arcade-based titled or simulations, there has always been an audience for the genre that isn’t only driven to play, but driven to excel. Simulation titles have always had quite the following, with some players even making the transition from gameplay to professional drivers. Brilliantly Turn 10 chose to open up the game with one of the most visually-attractive tracks in the game which sets itself on the streets of Rio de Janeiro. Bound excels in presenting an engaging universe and telling a deep and imaginative story, but where it has the imagination to make the player think and awe at what they’re seeing, it simply doesn’t have as much to tell when it comes to the core gameplay. That being said, it wouldn’t be fair to call Bound a bad game, because it’s simply a flawed one when it comes to gameplay. The lack of engaging gameplay really affected my experience to a certain point, but for what it’s worth Bound’s storytelling managed to salvage what else there was and give me an immersive narrative experience.
Whilst the main campaigns of the game are quite limited in length, users interested in custom content can unleash and share their imagination by creating custom levels. The sandbox mode gives you the ability to use all of your unlocked content to create levels with custom tracks, structures and objectives, which lengthen the game by quite a bit, but only if you’re interested in either building or downloading custom content. Sandbox mode is quite extensive, and in some ways it’s the saving grace of a game that really consists of a very small amount of content considering the pricing.
The game spends a lot of time getting right and improving upon its predecessor, and it does so admirably with some nice features, with the noted additions to the career, more advanced player training and an even more refined ‘Ultimate Team’ section, which has been the heart of the franchise for many players the past few years, and understandably so. The added Draft tool makes Ultimate Team a lot more accessible, which makes working with player relations a lot easier for inexperienced players, which speeds up the pace of the game and makes for a more enjoyable experience.
Online play is still as enjoyable as ever, and you’ll have the ability to challenge your friends to a 1v1 match, challenge their clubs while they’re away or put yourself into a pro club with your friends, allowing you to compete in 11v11 matches, which really is an exhilarating experience. From a technical standpoint online gameplay in FIFA 15 is very stable, though sometimes connection issues may create some aggravating situations. Disconnections before or at the end of the match may still result in losses, which is pretty frustrating wether you’re winning or not.
Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a fun and well-made standalone title that is certainly worth giving a shot. It's certainly one that's best enjoyed if you have played the first two games and simply want to experience more and want to see the series' loose ends tied up in a nice and clean narrative.
Planet Coaster isn’t perfect yet, but what’s there is just incredibly fun. There’s a lot of learning to do along the way, but with all of the customisation and freedom, Frontier Developments has delivered one of the best possible successors to the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. However, it’s an experience that will undoubtedly grow stronger as the game develops over its lifetime, which is something the developer is arguably quite skilled at.
