So would I recommend Echoes of Aincrad? If you're a fan of the series, I reckon there's a lot more to it. There are characters, references, and situations that will surely feel far more exciting if you're already familiar with the universe. Plus, there's also a certain charm in being...
Personally, however, I would recommend Gothic 1 Remake. It is very faithful to the original, for better or worse, and the surface is still rough, prickly and full of Euro-jank. But if you scratch beneath it long enough, a rather fine gem emerges. A slightly grubby and uneven gem, to...
All in all, Lord of Hatred is a good expansion with plenty to offer, both for new players and for fans, but it isn't the major revival one might have hoped for. It's Diablo IV, just a little bit better, and sometimes that might be enough.
All in all, Arcadia Fallen II has pleasantly surprised me. I could easily see myself going back to play the first game just to get the full story. If you're a fan of visual novels, this is a really good choice with a strong story, good characters and solid dialogue....
Samson
So, would I recommend Samson? No, not in the state the game is in right now. And I struggle to see how it could be salvaged without significant changes to some absolutely central systems.
It's a shame, really, because the period is interesting, and the idea of following a female knight through plague-ridden Italy could easily have been the starting point for something really exciting. But in its current form, 1348: Ex Voto is difficult to recommend. Perhaps some patches could improve the experience...
So I would recommend BrokenLore Unfollow. Yes, if you're craving a shot of Resident Evil right here and now, you can get some entertaining hours out of BrokenLore Unfollow. But personally, I'd rather wait for Resident Evil 9 to come out. BrokenLore Unfollow feels mostly like a mediocre copy of...
Would I recommend The Séance of Blake Manor? Yes, I would. It's a small game made by a studio with limited resources, but they've done a really nice job with the tools at their disposal. I would have been on the edge of my seat if it wasn't for the...
All in all, Syberia Remastered is almost a 1:1 copy of the original game. If you've already played Syberia, the remaster is primarily a nostalgic reunion. If you're new to the series, however, it's a fine and beautiful adventure game that focuses on the artistic rather than the entertaining.
So can I recommend Sleep Awake? Yes, absolutely. Admittedly, the game is definitely not for the faint-hearted, who don't like being as powerless as Katja is at the beginning, but if you like exquisite dystopian horror atmosphere, then this is one of the best games in the genre since Alien...
That said, I've said repeatedly that the game is enjoyable, and it's enjoyable all the way through. The graphics are well done and the animations are so natural to look at that you sometimes think it's a cartoon. It's great just to watch the customers get their food, have a...
To sum up, Echoes of the End is an ambitious game with some really good ideas and a beautiful presentation, but also with technical issues and design flaws that detract from the experience. I would actually recommend it, but only if you can wait for a few updates.
