Borderlands 4

While Borderlands 4 does still have some performance problems, the general gameplay and writing are a marked improvement over where the last two installments in the series were on launch. The series feels like it's taken a major leap forward in this latest entry.

While each playthrough might be short, the experience Sword of the Sea delivers and the many reasons it offers to play it again make for a spectacular experience. If you liked Journey, Pathless, or if you're a fan of skate and surf games, give Sword of the Sea a try.

Not exactly a retro throwback so much as pulling the past forward, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution mixes the best of classic charm and more modern design sensibilities to make for an outstanding game that's fun to play and is going to be amazing to speedrun.

While Everdeep Aurora doesn't break new ground (ha), it does offer a very polished take on the genre, emphasizing clever platforming and an initially simple narrative that unveils rich deep lore for those willing to seek it.

Grimoire Groves offers a unique blend of cozy aesthetic with satisfying, but not overwhelming, pacifistic action roguelite gameplay that can be played in both short bursts or marathon-style play sessions.

With rich visuals, a compelling mystery, intriguing characters, tons of places to explore and combat that is brutal but adjustable to your needs, Ender Magnolia: Bloom In The Mist is absolutely a game worth devoting your time and attention to.

Mixing a fantastical cyberpunk narrative with fast-paced back and forth Metroidvania action, all displayed in a fantastically crisp pixel art style, Blade Chimera had me hooked start to finish.

8/10

Farewell North is an emotional game about the difficult goodbye to something that's been with you for your entire life and how you keep it with you even after it's gone. If you have lost a family member, pet, or are homesick, Farewell North is sure to resonate with you.

Gestalt: Steam & Cinder pays homage to the games that came before it without falling into a nostalgia trap of repeating the same elements from those it draws inspiration from. Instead it tries to refine them into a new and rewarding experience that while familiar, is not just more of the same.

Stellar Blade
9/10

Offering superb combat and rewarding exploration, Stellar Blade is let down only slightly by somewhat flat voice acting, odd quality of life oversights, and a narrative that has a full skeleton, but wants for more meat on the bone. Hopefully a sequel can smooth out these rough edges.
