Forza Horizon 5

Update [23 April 2025]: Hell has frozen over (for some), as Xbox mainstay Forza Horizon 5 is now playable on PS5 through early access ahead of a larger 29 April release. The PS5 version of Horizon 5 includes all DLC and the new Forza Realms update, and is perfect for PS5 players who’ve not experienced the title yet.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle should officially be considered the sixth instalment in the fabled franchise. I have no idea if LucasFilm is pondering bringing back 82-year-old Harrison Ford to mirror his on-screen dad’s pledge to never say never again. But I hope they don’t, because the Great Circle delivers a compelling, genuinely awesome Indy adventure that rivals the films – and is even better than some of them.

South of Midnight
8.5

South of Midnight has been on my radar since it was first announced back in 2023. Leaning heavily into Southern folklore, developer Compulsion Games’ latest also carried with it a distinct, frame-jumping visual style. It looked, sounded, and seemed to act different to most.

Update: The Last of Us Part 2 is now available on Windows PC via Steam. Here’s our original PlayStation review.

Atomfall

Rebellion’s known for its long-running Sniper Elite franchise, but Atomfall is something entirely different. Equal parts survival shooter, mystery, and sci-fi RPG, it sets out to something unique and, for the most part, accomplishes its goal.

Forgive me in advance, for I couldn’t resist: the original Citizen Sleeper was indeed a sleeper hit, a narrative choose-your-own-adventure journey that I picked up simply because it happened to be on Xbox Game Pass. I fell in love almost instantly, enraptured in its sci-fi, ever so dystopian world.

It’s an understatement to say that 2025 has been rough… and brace yourselves, because we’re still in January. As people, for some inexplicable reason, bother to debate whether or not Elon Musk threw up two Nazi salutes at Trump’s inauguration (he did), Sniper Elite Resistance has come out at a perfect time. Not only does it remind us that fascism is bad, but of the importance of fighting back.

Updated review [15 January 2025]: Another system, another version of a classic. 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns first debuted on the Wii, before 2013’s Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D spiced things up on the 3DS. Now, 2025 offers another chance to play — and with less difficulty, even compared to the 3DS version — thanks to Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on Switch.

I love a good walk and talk. Some of my favourite television series — most notably, Star Trek The Next Generation and Buffy the Vampire Slayer — always used the technique to convey copious amounts of exposition as Picard and Riker exited a turbolift on the way to a transporter room, or as Buffy and Giles made their way to the library.

Everyone has a Mario Party story at this point, and most of them end up with the storyteller either coming from or being utterly destroyed because of some questionable Star allocations at the end. If you’re out to relive past stories, make new ones, or potentially alienate yourself from a new friendship group, Super Mario Party Jamboree is the latest in the long-running franchise.
